The UK Kitchen Industry

The fitted kitchen industry in the UK is valued at just under £5bn per year in revenue and in 2021, some 1.25m new kitchens were sold.

Whilst Covid saw a dip in sales, and the cost of living crisis in 2023 is expected to continue with a slow down on housing sales, it is expected that (affordability permitting) more and more UK homeowners will be staying put and riding out the current housing turmoil and as such, looking at ways to consolidate value in their properties and enhance their enjoyment.

It is therefore expected that the UK kitchen industry will maintain much of its activity during 2023 and experience year on year growth.

Independents kitchen retailers account for some 35.5% of the total UK kitchen market share, with trade retailers (e.g Howdens) in second place with 28.5% and the large consumer multiples and retail shed such as Wren, B&Q and Homebase making up 19% of the market.

Whilst a fantastically designed kitchen by Wren or an independent is a fantastic kitchen, regardless of whom sold it, at Real Kitchens we do like to stick up for the independents.
